In this tutorial, Erika Vera of New York Barbershop demonstrates the full beard and moustache, showing you how to create a defined perimeter and interior silhouette with fading on a full beard. MK also makes an appearance, exploring alternate methods of fading a tapered beard. Want to get to grips with fading from the sideburns into the beard while you’re here? We bring in Stelios Chondros to show you how!
First, Erika talks you through the influencing factors that informed her service, including how to prepare and protect your client before you begin. She demonstrates the application of clipper techniques – and preparing the outline of the beard and moustache for the shaving portion of the service, making sure you stabilise your hands throughout. The final result? A seamless fade your client will love.
Next MK is here to demonstrate how to fade on a tapered beard in the neck with clippers. You’ll learn how to angle your client’s head and use a freehand technique to produce the fade, refining the outline shape with trimmers. The outcome is a perfect fade from perimeter to outline.
Last but not least, it’s Stelios Chondros’s turn to take the helm. He shows you how to achieve a fade from the sideburns, connecting the beard and haircut using the scissors-over-comb technique. You’ll produce a loose fade from beard to haircut for a soft, natural finish.
