Ombre hair, along with dip dye, is the trend thats not going anywhere. But we have seen subtle changes in techniques with a move towards free-hand painting Balayage and ‘sombre’ – offering a gentler transition between colours. And let’s not forget the pastels, which have dominated hair colour this year and also look set to stay around for a long time.
We have chosen our favourite celebrity ombre hair looks and show you just how easy it is to recreate their looks using the tutorials from our amazing educators.
Short Ombre

Sun-Kissed Dip Dye Ombre
Gorgeous Ashley Simpson’s luscious long locks are seriously enhanced by a blonde dip dye to the ends, with a few pieces picked around her face as well to give a beautiful sun-kissed feel. This is a true salon friendly look, which will suit most brunette clients, introducing those to colour who may be wary of trying it and so offer an extra colour service to your bottom line.

Bruno Elorrioroz’s colouring tutorial provides everything you need to learn this salon staple. His variation of the popular ombre technique uses a soft blend of colours, beginning with a Level 4 root application to bring a feeling of healthy enrichment in the root area. Bleach enlightener is then naturally placed by hand throughout the mid-lengths and then the ends. Once lifted, this is then toned down with a deposit of soft honey gold semi-permanent colour to the mid-lengths and ends to give ultimate shine and add a varying degree of glow to this luxe, rock-chic look.

Introducing Sombre
Lauren Conrad takes ombre to sombre with her multi-tonal blonde tones. The strong platinum would be too harsh but the addition of darker blonde softens the overall feel and adds interest to what could be an otherwise flat and draining look.

Again, it’s Bruno Elorrioroz’s salon creative colouring tutorial which teaches all the elements needed for this look. He starts with a basic application of natural light blonde with a very natural champagne beige pearl blonde, adding weaved low lights around the perimeter and beneath the fringe to create texture. He adds a cooler feel with pink and creamy blonde tones and on the top he applies a semi permanent colour to the roots/regrowth, bringing depth. Easy!
