News - Andreas on Dazed Digital

Text and Images by Jamie Harrison // Published Friday 20 July 2012

Andreas Kurkowitz makes his debut on MHD, as well as on Dazed and Confused's website this week. The young German colourist recently worked alongside session supremo Peter Gray at Johnny Othona's London salon Ena to create a film and series of photographs that can be seen on Dazed Digital, the magazine's multimedia website.

The project called I was a Punk Rock Princess was inspired by a series of vintage punk hairdressing postcards owned by Dazed & Confused executive fashion editor Cathy Edwards. Peter Gray cut and styled the hair, and also directed the short film, while the pictures were taken by photographer Fumi Nagasaka. Andreas coloured the hair using bold vivid colours and was assisted by another MyHairDressers.com regular Elinor Blakeley, of Paul Knights Hair SpaAndreas and Elinor first met in the MHD studios when she assisted him during his first shoot with Stacey Broughton

The film and accompanying images took over three days with late nights to make, as all the models had to have their hair bleached before the cuts and colours, but we think the final result was worth it.
