Feature - Winter Warming Colour

Text / Images by Jamie Harrison // Published Friday 31 December 2010

Hair colouring is more than matching skin tones and following trends, though they are vital ingredients to a successful colour. Hair colouring is also reflective of personality, mood and the changes in the seasons. Give your clients a winter makeover using our colouring tutorials that match the season and are bang on trend. We’ve hand-picked some colours that your clients will love, and there’s something for all hair types and personalities.

Red has definitely been the colour of the year, but with warmer golden blends that can be suitable for natural blondes or redheads. Josh Wood’s Freehand Colour Placement tutorial uses a gorgeous blend that is sure to stand out in any winter landscape.

Tracy Hayes video tutorial, Reflecting Colour adds bolder oranges against blondes and red setter tones, while her Zig-Zag and V-Shaped Sections video explores a spectrum of cool blondes to warm honeys and coppers.

Tracy moves towards a cooler red, with violet and intense gloss in her Herringbone Foils technique, then takes it a stage cooler to rich purples in The Valentina, before producing a glorious flash of violet in her Colour Placement tutorial.

Our final recommendation is Bruno Elorrioroz’s beautiful interpretation of the summers grown out roots look, with subtle shades of aubergine, red, and deep chocolate moving to golden brown, in the Panel Colouring Dark Roots to Warm Tones video tutorial.
