News - Spring Shoot Days 6,7 & 8

Text and Images by Jamie Harrison // Published Friday 18 May 2012

The MyHairDressers.com spring video shoot continued as Stacey Broughton, Charmaine Piche and Andreas Kurkowitz arrived for three days of stunning hairdressing. Stacey is barely ever in the UK with a hectic schedule of international seminars and shows and he flew in from a hugely successful series of workshops in Denmark to record his videos, before returning to Denmark after his shoot.

On Thursday, Stacey produced two haircuts for his immensely popular Head Block Basics series, before handing over to Charmaine on Friday. Charmaine also went back to basics for three essential student videos that all colourists need to learn not just for technique, but for every day salon work throughout their career. Stacey was on hand to cut the models hair so they looked gorgeous on camera and we were joined by Elinor Blakeley from Paul Knights Hair Spa in Leeds to assist.

Saturday was the big day, quite literally as Stacey began work on two creative looks inspired by the colours and tones of 1950s advertising. To realise his vision, Stacey brought in Andreas Kurkowitz, winner of the German Hairdressing Awards Colour Technician 2012. Andreas is a rising star and has recently moved to London from Berlin, where he is being courted by some of the biggest names in hairdressing. Stacey, Andreas and the MHD crew worked hard throughout the day and night to film four tutorials, culminating in the final photo shoot at 6am. After 21 hours, we had achieved a new record for the length of an MHD video shoot, but the results are definitely worth it.

Stacey told us, "We have covered so much over the last three days, I think it's been the most intense shoot I've ever done, but with the cuts and the colours that Andreas and Charmaine have done, I'm sure the subscribers will love it. The last day was hard, but the team kept working and putting all their effort into getting the end result. No matter how hard it gets it's always a pleasure to work with dedicated and passionate people."
