News - Spring Hairdressing Video Shoot Day 8

The final day of the MyHairDressers.com Spring video shoot was a fittingly full day as John Vial and his team provided a big finish with some outstanding theatrical updo's with wefts and wigs.  

John of realhair brought along assistants Paul, Kirsty and Billie along with makeup artists Aneka and Jinny and fashion stylist Victoria Higgs. The team spent the day working on models Aimee and Caitlin and the MyHairDressers.com crew filmed the action in HD for release over the coming weeks. 

John told us, “Both looks are based on a rick-rack technique, one using extensions, the other with a wig. I wanted to do something fashion editorial and theatrical. I also wanted to do something different that maybe people hadn’t seen before rather than something wearable, although with the rick-rack technique you could tone it down and do something less extreme.   

“They’re based on something our team did for American Vogue with Guido Palau, especially the triangular one with Aimee, but they use essentially use the same techniques and they definitely marry together, although they look very different.”  

He went on, “I think it’s amazing that people in the salons around the world can see (and I don’t necessarily include myself in this) amazingly gifted hairdressers at the touch of a button through MyHairDressers.com. I think it’s brilliant. I think it’s genius that you can be living in Bangladesh and have access to this kind of one on one tuition. I’ve loved today and there’s no way I could have done it without this team of people. And having people like Andrew Gilbert shooting is just brilliant! Apart from the fact that he’s a brilliant hairdresser, he just puts you at ease and he understands what you’re doing and where you’re going next. He makes it effortless. I was nervous before doing it, but after 10 seconds with Andy I was fine and that therefor makes it joyous.”
