John Vial's session catwalk tutorial begins with clean and conditioned hair in a semi damp state to allow more control of the hair and its volume. John creates a circular section over the crown on the bevel of the head. With a vertical section on the left hand side from where the head rounds in the side to the front, he then wraps the hair over and across the front, ensuring that he avoids his sectioned hair. This section is pinned using large hair grips on both sides running parallel.

A wig stocking is placed over the hair from the front back to keep the hair in place and flat and the perimeter is secured using small U pins. A laced lined natural hair wig is placed and horizontal sections are taken, starting in the nape. John takes small sections and weaves the hair in a figure of eight around a U pin. He then holds the section in a flat iron to seal and sculpt throughout the head.

The hair is then brushed out and downwards to create a frizzy texture maintaining a degree of control and form, then finished with a beveled one length line to form a strident editorial image maker featuring a balance of geometry against the translucent texture.
