Get The Look - Illamasqua Make-up Tutorial

Text by Louisa Inchenko // Images by Jamie Harrison // Published Friday 29 July 2011

Callam Warrington's Couture Spherical Dressing was big and outrageous and reminded me of a Studio 54 disco era afro. I wanted to bring a bit of that 70's inspired colour to the finished look, with green eye make-up and bright pink lips. Caitlin had amazing skin and beautiful eye colour, so this fun, fresh and young look really worked.

//Skin

//step 1 To achieve this flawless, pastel 70’s or 60’s inspired look begin by prepping the skin with Illamasqua Satin Primer. Apply this all over the skin with an Illamasqua Foundation Brush to create a slightly dewy effect to enhance the siren within.

//step 2 For a medium coverage, use the ‘ultimate skin realism’ foundation Skin Base. For this look, Louisa used SB 07 buffed into the skin with an Illamasqua Highlighter Brush. A small amount of Skin Base goes a long way, the ‘water in silicon’ based formula means it can be layered onto the skin to even out and balance skin tones, providing a perfect base.

//step 3 Gently dab Cream Blusher in ‘Rude’ using an Illamasqua Blusher Brush I on to the apples of the cheeks to add a soft dewy finish to the skin. The light-weight formulation blends effortlessly for a flattering coral flush.

//Eyes

//step 1 Press Cream Pigment in ‘Bedaub’ – a highly pigmented matt mint colour all over the lids and up to the brow bone, blend this with an Illamasqua Blending Brush I.  A versatile and multi tasking formulation, water and crease–resistant and gives an extremely pigmented coverage level. Perfect for a pastel wash of colour.

//step 2 To add contrast and for a dramatic look to make the eyes pop, apply Precision Ink in 'Glister', a glistening opalescent nude to the lash line.

//step 3 For extra definition and to add an 'avant garde' feel to the look apply False Eye Lashes 05 along the outer lash line to widen the eyes (cut to suit) and finish with two coats of Volume Mascara in 'Harness'.

//step 4 Add Sealing Gel to Eye Brow Cake in ‘Gaze’ with an Illamasqua Eye Brow Brush to create a water-resistant paste. Define the brows in a sweeping motion to frame the eye and create a statement brow.

//Lips

//step 1 Line the lips with Medium Pencil in ‘Bait’ to offer a long-lasting, colour-true finish to compliment the pastel eyes.

//step 2 To finish, apply Sheer Lip Gloss in ‘Divine’ which is infused with Vitamin E for a smooth finish, super glossy, with a sensual, sheer colour designed to enhance your lips.

All of the make-up looks featured in the upcoming videos on MyHairdressers.com have been created using Illamasqua products, to capture the imagination of anyone who wants to accentuate their look through the art of making-up.
