Get The Look - Illamasqua Make-up Tutorial

Text by Louisa Inchenko // Images by Jamie Harrison // Published Thursday 28 April 2011

Freya’s make-up for the final images of Graham Oglesby’s Shake haircutting tutorial is a young and fresh look inspired by the latest street fashion and the UK’s indie-folk music scene.

//Skin

//step 1 Apply Matt Primer directly to the face with your fingers – this professional cream formula offers UVA and UVB protection and givens skin an even, matt finish.

//step 2 Use Rich Liquid Foundation 150  [for light to medium skin with pink undertones]. This gives a maximum, long-lasting coverage without feeling or looking heavy. Use an Illamasqua Highlighter Brush and buff on into the skin using circular movements. A little goes a long way.

//step 3 Fix your foundation with Loose Powder 010 [a translucent powder suitable for all skin tones]. A small dusting of this finely milled powder is enough to keep your make-up in place all day and night.

//step 4 Sweep Powder Blusher in ‘Lover’ over the apples of the cheeks with an Illamasqua Blusher Brush II and sweep upwards towards the hairline. This peachy shade is flattering on all pale – medium skin tones.

//Eyes

//step 1 Blend Powder Eye Shadow in Bronx [a pale bronze-gold] using an Illamasqua Eye Shadow Brush and work into the socket line blending over the entire lid.

//step 2 Under the brow bone, apply a shimmering ivory pearl highlighter - Illuminator in Halcyon - that goes on wet but dries to a high lustre finish.

//step 3 Sweep a small amount of Bronx under the bottom lashes to brighten the eyes and add a metallic bronze-gold flush.

//step 4 Use Eye Liner Cake in Danger [a navy blue], for a modern take on a bold flick. Use an Illamasqua Lip Brush for it’s tapered end - this allows a thicker, bolder line than an Eye Liner Brush but still gives you great control and precision. Mix a drop of Sealing Gel in to the corner of the Eye Liner Cake to create a paste with which to paint the liner from the inner corner of the lash line to the outer corners. Brush the flicks out in soft feathery flicks for a more dramatic look.

//step 5 I love the Illamasqua Angled Eye Liner Brush for creating a variety of eyebrow shapes. Here, I used Eye Brow Cake in ‘Gaze’ for a soft slate grey finish – perfect for blondes. For a longer lasting look, mix with a small drop of water or Illamasqua Sealing Gel to make a paste, then apply with an Illamasqua Eye Brow Brush.

//Lips

//step 1 Using a Fat Pencil in ‘Wilful’, I created a copper gold mouth with a hint of shimmer. These versatile pencils can be used directly on the eyes, lips, face and body. Indulge in luscious looks with a rich metallic finish.

All of the make-up looks featured in the upcoming videos on MyHairdressers.com have been created using Illamasqua products, to capture the imagination of anyone who wants to accentuate their look through the art of making-up.
