News - Winter Video Shoot - Days 3 & 4

The MyHairDressers.com Winter shoot continued through Monday and Tuesday as Roy Hayward made his debut with some essential wet setting techniques. The tutorials have been designed for UK NVQ Level 2 students, but with Roy's editorial background and hairdressing panache, the dressing out brought a very flavour to the finished looks. 

Roy did two videos - a directional wind and a brickwork wind, both of which were done on head blocks and live models. The techniques are absolutely essential to understand sectioning and to build dexterity. The skills learned in the videos translate equally well in the salon and on the catwalk or photographic studio and Roy's approach is absolute genius.

Roy was joined in the studio by three assistants from Leeds based Paul Knight's Hair Spa, Elinor, Laura and Abby who did a great job helping out during the shoot and obviously enjoyed the opportunity to take part.

Elinor said, "MyHairDressers.com is a brilliant educational resource, there's so many brilliant ideas. The Chelsea Blow-dry is my favourite, it's brilliant for learning sectioning. It's been a fantastic day, I've learned so much and I recommend anybody to come down for a day's assisting, if I don't get invited first!"
