Hair@theAcademy, part of Exeter Royal Academy for Deaf Education, is celebrating a new partnership with MyHairDressers.com launched this month. The website is providing £5,000 worth of free access to its online training for 48 students taking part in Hair and Beauty workshops over the next 12 months.

The workshops, funded by the Big Lottery Fund, focus on disengaged young people in the city and helping them to get back into education through a vocational course suited to their interests. The students will get an insight into a working environment whilst meeting new friends and learning new skills. There will be demonstrations, guest speakers and advice on further education, career and employment opportunities.

The partnership with MyHairDressers.com allows the students to access its library of videos covering all aspects of hairdressing and fashion. The step by step guides are clear and engaging for students and can be accessed at any time.

Mary Pugsley, who will be running the workshops, said‚ "I am so delighted that MyHairDressers.com has chosen to support Hair@theAcademy in recognition of the work we do. Access to MyHairDressers.com will make a huge difference to the students on the workshops, giving them additional resources to complement their learning in the salon."

Students attending the workshop said, "The website is brilliant. There are so many step by step videos which are easy to follow and we have learnt some excellent skills at Hair@theAcademy and MyHairDressers.com will help me learn more."

Mark Butcher, CEO of MyHairDressers.com said, "This is such a wonderful project and I am proud to offer support. A large part of our mission is to provide education to those who would otherwise be denied and the work of Hair@theAcademy personifies that ethos perfectly."

Exeter Royal Academy for Deaf Education is a specialist in educating deaf children.
