ONLINE HAIRDRESSING TRAINING AND EDUCATION FROM THE WORLD'S BEST HAIRDRESSERS

News - MyHairDressers.com's EEC Partnership

Text by Jamie Harrison // Published Friday 21 October 2011

My Hairdressers Ltd is using its expertise to support the European Commission for Lifelong Learning's Leonardo Da Vinci Programme, which is designed to assist students and workers in the creative fields, including hairdressing, to gain work.

Employers in creative services (hairdressers, make-up artists, industrial designers, fashion designers, media technicians) have difficulties in finding capable and creative employees that are very important for their business. It is hard to assess the real level of skills and creativity from a written job application or CV and employers often lack time and resources to personally see the work of all candidates.

Job seekers, on the other hand, have even more problems introducing their knowledge, skills and creativity to potential employers. The internet brings a new solution to this problem. The aim of the project is to teach, facilitate and enable job seekers and students to prepare a creative e-portfolio as a tool for presenting their skills, knowledge, and creativity.

E-portfolios can include digital contents, such as movies and recordings that show the level of skills and creativity that the job seeker has conquered. Potential employers can evaluate the work of job seeker and decide whether to invite him/her to personal meeting or even directly to work.

My Hairdressers Ltd is one of the CREATE-IN partners advising on a learning course to train the trainers that will teach and support students and job seekers in e-media presentation of their work and already acquired skills in a form of creativity e-portfolio. We will assist in the set-up of the environment to produce and publish 10 pilot e-portfolios, link them to social networks and disseminate the information to a wide base of potential users.

CREATE-IN’s consortium brings together the unique knowledge and interests of all stakeholder groups. MyHairDressers.com is the world’s most active online hairdressing training and education portal and will be assisting on a range of educational, technical and promotional activities and training throughout the project.

Any learner in Europe can benefit from the project: with synergy of creativity, strength and range of project partnership we are using the social media network production wave to enable more exchange and mobility between education, job seekers, employers and industry.

My Hairdressers Ltd CEO, Mark Butcher said, “I am extremely proud and excited by this project. We have a broad range of skills and technical knowledge within the company that we are honoured to share across the European Community to benefit all students and job seekers. The initial aim of the company was to provide affordable hairdressing education across the world and our Licensing model is bringing that dream true, with translated content now rolling out in several countries.

“Our team of videographers, editors, photographers, journalists, designers, educators, translators, SEO specialists and web and software developers have an immense knowledge of digital asset creation and delivery and we are proud to share that expertise to positively affect people’s lives and to help them gain employment in these difficult economic times.

“We are increasingly working with governments around the world, from education authorities to trade and export agencies and are recognised as a leader and innovator in delivering digital education and content. The Leonardo Da Vinci Programme is another feather in the cap for the My Hairdressers team and I know their dedication will make this life changing project the success it deserves to be.”
