Jo McKay's salon creative colouring tutorial begins by initially sectioning an oblong shape in front of the crown which incorporates the two longer points in Bastian’s haircut that over hang the perimeter. Jo initiates the process with a perimeter base colour using a basic tint application from root to ends working up the entire back, then applies a base colour to the right side area using vertical sections working the hair back onto her previous section until she reaches the front hair line and incorporating the fringe.

Next Jo works the left hand side top section including the parting with depth of a level 6, to place depth in the root area and to contrast with the third section which melts through to a level 8. Finally she adds a high lift on the ends for an amalgam of oyster and caramel tones. The result is a beautiful colour melt to perfectly compliment the disconnected elements and defined base shape of the haircut.
